Our Mission
Is to provide a safe and comfortable learning environment which provides an opportunity for students to challenge their intellectual and creative abilities and allows them to meet their full potential as citizens through music making in an ensemble setting.

The following skills are taught in the Band Program:
1) Music making skills:  Students learn how to keep time, hear pitch, and control musical expression through creative group projects. 2) Music reading skills:  Students study the basics of musical notation and develop the sense of rhythm through games, written assignments and making music from percussion and recorders. 3) Group Skills:  Students develop the ability to work cooperatively and democratically in a group, building on the ideas of shared work, empathy, and mutual support.

MAC BAND Rehearsals & Practice Expectations
Music is a disciplined art. It is very important for all members to understand and follow the rehearsal procedures, practicing and performing regulations in order to create the safe and comfortable learning environment for the well disciplined, respectable ensemble. The members of the ensemble are expected to demonstrate the Ensemble Spirit, Equipments Care, Personal Preparation and Musical Self-Discipline. Rehearsals are from Monday to Friday after school, 3:30 -5:30 p.m. Students can come to the music room once they finish school.  Please arrange the pickup time after 5:30pm so that students do not need to leave early and interrupt the rehearsal.  Those arriving late or leaving early are usually out of tune and cause difficulties with missing parts. A note or an email from home is required for anyabsence, including both illness and school activities.  Any unexcused absences will result in a warning for breaking the ensemble spirit.  It is student’s responsibility to practice and learn their parts for 30 minutes (or more) a day at home. Students will be observed to see whether or not they have been practicing the correct material in order to make progress on the ensemble.
